Mini Pont-Pop Competition LaurenHill Bound

Montreal - Thursday, May 10, 2018

Spanning the canyons between classroom desks, 70 student-designed bridges are going to be put to the ultimate test at LaurenHill Academy (2505 Cote Vertu) in St. Laurent on  Thursday, May 17 (8:30 am)  at the Mini Pont-Pop competition.

Based on the university level competition at the École de Technologie Supérieur (ÉTS), Grade 9 students, along with competition founder Richard Sicotte, studied the theory behind bridge construction in order to conceive and build a bridge that will attempt to withstand the forces from a hydraulic press.

The competition is being run for the first time at the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ and combines numerous STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) disciplines. Winning teams will be awarded prizes and trophies for their designs.
